A sketch of a possible linguistic approach to critical literacy.

A sketch of a possible linguistic approach to critical literacy.
A’kum sir Johari...It’s been a while since I posted the last blog. This blog is regarding the next text that is in Reading 3.3- A sketch of a possible linguistic approach to critical literacy. If u still remember, I was the one who presented this topic and because of that, I’m quite knowledgeable about this topic as I did a study before presenting this topic.
Actually this topic is to make people understand about a topic. The writer sees the role of a linguistic approach to literacy as making clear the technology of written text, how written language works and how can people use this knowledge to become critically literate. The writer selected relevant aspect of the texts such as genre, register and grammar to find out the ideology behind the text.
There are two types of text that is Text A and Text B and there are almost the same. Both texts are focusing on the people in business but the way they were written are different. Text A is a discussion essay as it presented both sides of issue. It has two stances. Text B is a report because it is more general. It uses nominalizations to make it more academic.
At first, it was really hard for me to understand this text but at last after the study and discussion had been done I can understand them well. This kind of knowledge is really important in order to make the ideological positioning. Furthermore, these infos can be used in texts analyzing. That’s all for now..thank you.. see u next time.. adios..
